I caught up over the phone with Sarah Jane Scouten almost the moment she landed in Alberta, ahead of her winter tour across Western Canada. (Note - there is ambient background noise throughout)
Bringing fresh influences to a very authentic revival of classic country sounds, this tour will also feature the work she has done in collaboration with ethnomusicologists to uncover the musical history of the regions she'll be playing in.
For Alberta, that will be the oral tradition of the cowboy song.
Her own musical history indicates that will be something to experience live...
